Video: Alex Battles in The Graveyard

Here’s yet another gameplay video for Silent Hill Homecoming. In this clip, we see Alex in a graveyard of some sorts when he is attacked by a monster. The combat looks great in this sequence, although I’m kind of upset to see the inclusion of a mini-game (tapping buttons to onscreen prompts). Mini games were included in SH: Origins too, and that’s one of the only points about the game I didn’t like. All in all, the battle seems pretty fluid when compared to other SH titles, and all the blood and gore seems to still be in fact. The finishing sequence on the monster looks awesome. Take a watch.

  1. Broken Hierophant Said,

It looks great but the fans seem to be on the cynical side. I realize they are new guys but they should not be dissed just because they are an American team. To me that is bigotry at its’ worst. These poor guys are getting shot at and crucified even before the unveiling of Home-coming on store shelves. I also heard complaints the nurses are too sexy but strong sexual themes started way back with the second game. (noone complained about PH raping and murdering mannequins for example.)

I have a suspicious feeling if the hardcore believed team silent was working on it they would not be condemning it even before its’ release. They’d be praising it and antcipating it waving their team silent flags like crazy.

I like how Shepherd genuinely looks terrified right before the “dog thing” attacks in the graveyard. Its’ good that they play on the fact though he was in the military he still feels fear. That was not so apparent with Leon Kennedy from Re 4 or even Travis Grady from SH origins.

The graphics look alot smoother and cleaner. This is a double edged sword. The grainy effects and abyssmal fog in the first games built suspense then again its’ good to see a SH game look so pretty and polished.

It seems like a very SH story. Shephred feels responsible for his brother’s disappearance and sets out to find him. This is true to Harry’s Dilehma in SH 1. I’ve heard so many people say “the storyline is gonna suck1!!! yet they only know the bare bones basics of it.

It almost seems as if the fans are dissing the game for being innovative AND too much like the other games at the same time. Definetly a big contradiction. Wouldn’t it seem logical to WANT it to be like the other games yet improve on complaints voiced about the past entries of the series??

Honestly I’m not so disappointed by Silent Hill’s evolution as I am about its’ fickle elitist yokol self proclaimed “followers” who have done nothing but complain since Home-coming was announced. I’m left the wonder “If” it will get fair reviews or if people are so dead set on despising it they’ll give it low scores “just because”.
